Environmental and Sustainability Award

To show ATA’s commitment in collaborating with members on solutions for the industry, we unveiled the new Environmental and Sustainability Award at the 2023 Toy Fair. We understand the importance of looking at sustainable solutions in toys, from manufacturing processes to product design and lifespan. Open to both current products and new products from exhibitors, we are excited to see the amazing work they are undertaking in this area.

Entry Criteria

  • Product can be new or already in the market
  • Product must not have been entered previously
  • This award is only open to exhibitors of the Fair
  • Up to two items can be entered per exhibitor

Submissions must comment on how they address any of the following criteria

  1. Content – is the product made from plastic waste, recycled or renewable materials?
  2. Reuse and Redeployment – does the product fulfill the circular economy by being fit for reuse or redeployment after its current life?
  3. Design – how is the product designed for the environment e.g., Durability / modularity? Is the whole lifecycle of the product (manufacture, use, disposal, etc) considered and managed?
  4. Social Sustainability – does the manufacturing process fulfill social sustainability and if so, how? Does the organisation or brand owner have a social sustainability program, if so, please detail?
  5. Carbon Footprint – how is the carbon footprint managed/limited in the production of this product? Does the organisation have a carbon accounting program, commitment, and strategy? If so, please detail
  6. Education – does the product provide education on sustainability?
  7. Packaging – how is the product packaged to reduce plastic/waste?

Judging will be carried out by selected professionals with experience and expertise in this area.
